The shower tried to kill me: A quick post from Quito

Quito
Last night we got back to the same hostel we stayed in before we left, but in a room with a private bathroom because the shared bathroom rooms were booked out. There's nothing better than a nice hot shower after a long hard day. Except when that shower super heats and starts spurting practically boiling water at you. That's when you yell for your husband. It was like that scene from final destination where the girl dies in the shower because she gets stuck in there and it's really hot. I feel like it would take longer than 5 mins to die of boiling water spraying on you. Maybe if you were submerged in it it would take less time. Anyway, it seems the showers in the private rooms are not worth the extra because it tried to kill me again tonight...

There's Cotopaxi in the background
Today all we did was take the hop on hop off bus to Old Town and then manage to miss it back, and had to catch a taxi. Not really worth the $12 dollars each in order to feel even more like a tourist, and get helpful information like "the central Plaza is where tourists like to meet". No one invited us to that party. It was fine really, we weren't going to do anything else.
Tonight we finally found the area where all the restaurants are to eat dinner. Typical, we find it on our last night. I tried a prawn and plantain lasagne (no pasta) and sort of regretted it. The banana was mashed and there's no such thing as tasty cheese here. They all eat and serve cheese sandwiches but they are filled with white tasteless cheese. My lasagne just had mozzarella cheese. I put some of their chilli sauce on it, which turned out to be jungle melon flavoured. It was pretty unappetizing in the end.

Oh everyone keeps their dog on their roof in the smaller cities in Quito, we even saw one on a gabled roof.

Tomorrow we fly to Cusco. I only just booked our hostel. There's nothing I hate more than trying to choose a hostel on the Internet.... Actually, I hate walking 2 hours for nothing, but I don't have to do that as much.
