Heaton's Gap Lookout: Uninterrupted views to the south |
Yesterday we managed to convince a couple of our friends to join us on a walk in Heaton State Forest. It was a pretty hard slog up but the view is worth it. It is part of the Great North Walk and starts at Heaton's Gap.
We stopped when we reached Heaton's Gap lookout and then turned back. The round trip is 2.6km with it being completely uphill on the way to the lookout and completely downhill on the way back. It felt like a lot longer than that! Including sitting at the top for ages, it only took us about an hour. The full walk listed on the internet goes to Heaton's Lookout, which is an extra 3km (or so) buts sounds like an easier walk. The information on the full walk on
Wild Walks sounds about right. I trust this site most for our pre-walk information, but since it's a Sydney based site it doesn't have some walks on it.
Anyway, here are the best of the shots I took. I tend not to take as many photos when people are with us...
