South West Rocks

The locals at the light house
This weekend we headed to South West Rocks for a couple of nights. On Saturday, after we did a double boat dive (and Brandon had a nap) we drove down the coast a little way to the highest lighthouse in Australia. The view from the top was pretty great. We could see Fish Rock, where we were diving earlier in the day.

There is a short walk down to the beach from the light house. On the way down we noticed there were HEAPS of spiders out building their webs. Really big spiders too. And I noticed a few mice scurrying into their holes as we walked past.

One the way back to our accommodation we went past the Gaol and had a walk around. It's not a fantastic setting since it is actually surrounded by a camping ground and you can't see it from the ocean side, where photos would have looked better. Again, there were quite a few roos around, little ones this time.

A lawn mower, a pretty cute one

Before we left on Sunday we decided to go into the Way Way state forest because the dive instructors told us there was a good lookout you could drive to. It turns out the roads are pretty rough in there. We tried to go up one from the east first and discovered it was definitely a 4 wheel drive road only, so we went in from the North of the reserve, which was still a bit rough. The view was pretty nice. We left via Pirate Road, and I definitely recommend using that route over any other, the road was much better and much shorter!
