My Top sights of South America

I should really call this "My top sights of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile", but that's too long of a title. There were countless people who asked us what our favourite part of our South America trip was. It would always result in a huge pause and umms and ahhhs. It's far too hard to pick just one favourite part because there are a few that blew our minds equally. So here is the wrap up on our top favourties.

Yes, I am secretly a complete dag... Yes, that is an I love boobies t-shirt...

The Galapagos, Ecuador

This had to be on the list. Not only because it is something I have dreamed about since I was a pre-teen, but it was amazing. It wasn't all exactly what we were expecting, but the ability to get so close to wild animals was amazing. The snorkeling was just breathtaking and I will never forget swimming with sea lions. Take me back!

Death Road, Bolivia

This downhill mountain bike ride blew Brandon's mind. He was raving about it for weeks, literally, to everyone. It was a really stunning view the whole way down, and the fact that we drove through a snowy wonderland on the way there that was melted in the afternoon was slightly mind boggling. It really gave you a proper perspective on the height and steep gradient of the mountains. I really recommend it. I'm a total chicken when it comes to scary things (I'm the one you can hear screaming at the theme park), but I didn't find it scary at all. You can go at your own pace. Just make sure you stick to one side of the path and don't wobble everywhere, so people can easily pass you.

Las Pampas, Bolivia

We were glad that we went to the actual jungle, but the experience was a bit marred by Brandon's illness. We just had so much more fun in Las Pampas. It was awesome to see so many animals so close. It was also nice to not hike through the jungle in a river of your own sweat. If you have limited time, Las Pampas is a great way to spend it.

Pucon, Chile

We both loved Pucon. The town itself just had a nice laid back feeling about it, and it was so picturesque with the snow-capped volcano watching over it. I have great memories, since it was the place where I first officially snow boarded. Overall it was just a really nice place to stay and hang out.

Lares Trek, Peru

I don't feel like I gave Peru a fair chance. I feel like I was blinded by the touristy options and so all we did was those, and I think this gave me a skewed view of the country. The Lares trek was truly breathtaking. In all senses of the word, since it was at altitude too! It was so beautiful looking down from the pass. Walking through such different landscape was amazing too. It definitely has me looking at more multi-day hikes. W-trek anyone?

Wayna Picchu, Peru

Despite the annoyance I found wandering around Machu Picchu, Wayna Picchu was a different story. It was so amazing to stand so high and look down over Machu Picchu, which itself is perched on the top of a high mountain. I really recommend adding Wayna Picchu on to your Machu Picchu visit, it's worth it.
