Brandon has been wanting to take a trip down to Whitefish in Montana for a while now, and since we had to pick up our rooftop tent from Eureka, I suggested we stay overnight and spend a full day enjoying the ski hill. It ended up working well for my birthday, since the couple whose shipping address we were using were off work.
The trees looked so awesome all covered in snow! |
My favourite run was definitely through Ptarmigan bowl. There was super deep snow, and the bowl was tree-free and just gorgeous to go down. I did that same run about 4 or 5 times that day, each time getting faster and having more fun.
Our friends among the snow ghosts |
Our friend was very sneaky the night before, and managed to have a casual conversation with me where she figured out how to tell which helmet was mine. She then snuck some stick on letters on to it. Somehow no one on the ski hill commented on it all day. Although visibility was terrible most of the day so I'm not that surprised. I am surprised that I didn't even see the letters while my helmet sat on the table in front of me at lunch!
The boys took off on their own for the afternoon, mainly because Brandon lost his ski pass and was going to get another one. So us girls had an awesome time of it, and finished at the base at 4:20pm (the lifts close at 4pm), and found the boys waiting for us!
Brandon has put together a nice video from our trip, so click here to have a look!
We left Whitefish feeling so very lucky we had got to experience such an amazing time there. And I felt a little bit sad we couldn't make it our home for next season. Hopefully one of the other hills we are going to at the end of March will impress us enough to make us call it home next year!
