Vancouver Island - the south bit

Last week we arrived on Vancouver Island in Sidney via Ferry From Vancouver. It's about an hour and a half Ferry trip, and it's pretty boring. Bring a book... Haha. It's also a good idea to get there at least 40mins before the Ferry is due to leave, so you manage to get a spot on the Ferry.

Parking on the Ferry

When we arrived, we drove straight to Victoria and stopped at the information centre on the harbour. We shouldn't have wasted our time... It was all just tour pamphlets... Right near by is the interesting parliment buildings, that we walked past but didn't bother going in. We then headed to the shore a bit further south to go for a walk, but got distracted by the promise of fish and chips at a nearby pier. So we stopped there and had some awesome fish and chips, and got to watch some very cute Harbour seals.

People were buying fish to feed them and they were splashing and performing for it

So round and fat

Cute little shacks on the pier
We then drove to Goldstream Provincial Park and did a few cool walks, one to an old train trestle and another to a waterfall, before cooking some dinner in the company of a squirrel.
This was actually pretty scary...

Niagra falls!

We were tired and had no internet (it costs too much for mobile data over here), so we just went down the road to the camp grounds in the provincial park for the night. It was pretty expensive for a campsite with a pretty chilly shower (Brandon said it was warmer near the shower head)... And we got into trouble for burning sticks we found - "the forest needs to be left as forest". The Parks are very heavily patrolled by parks officers here...

I have just realised I can't condense all our time on the island into one post, I'll have to make multiple! So that's it for the South area!
