We woke up after a massive nights sleep to the sound of construction work in the camp grounds, and found it takes a fair amount of time to pack up and leave when camping. It's also pretty annoying when it's wet and rainy all the time.

Flowers at Hatley Castle |
We headed down to Hatley Castle, which is in the grounds of a university. Unfortunately the Castle was closed because there were lectures being held in it, so we could only walk around the outside. We didn't feel like paying $12 each to go in the gardens, so kept driving to Sooke's Potholes. It was kind of a small gorge with a series of waterfalls and rapids, and you walked along beside it for a while.

Cute succulents were growing near the river |
We saw our first Banana slug here! They are massive! They come in either the colour above, all black or all green-yellow. And they are super gross looking!
After some sushi for lunch we headed off to try and find somewhere to camp on the Western coast. Unfortunately all the camp grounds were closed to we just kept driving. Eventually we decided to stop outside the gates for Lizard Lake camp ground, because it was closed as well and we didn't want to just keep driving. It was actually really nice to stay the night there, even though there weren't any showers. And when the rain let up, the lake was lovely.
